Essen/Lüdersburg, May 5, 2008 - A new offer from Karstadt sports and Clubhaus AG allows people to take up golf fast, flexibly and inexpensively. "Jetzt-golfen.de" is the name of the comprehensive service package, incorporating offers for novices, beginners and experienced golfers. In addition to taster and minimum handicap courses, as well as the newly developed and appealing "Karstadt GolfCard" and the Golf Online proficiency certificate (available online), "Jetzt golfen" is now also offering guest membership at a prestigious golf club which includes a German Golf Association pass and handicap management. This offer is valid throughout Germany.
With "Golf should be a love, not an expense" as their motto, Karstadt sports and Clubhaus AG together with "Jetzt-golfen.de" are meeting the needs of those who have so far found it too difficult to start playing the sport. "Sales assistants at our branches are being asked more and more frequently about the best and most inexpensive way of getting into the sport. With
"Jetzt-golfen.de", we can present a suitable offer", says Peter Wolf, Karstadt boss and Member of the Management Board at Arcandor AG. "As a leader in the golf market, we are also reaching new target groups by working together in this way."
Official market studies have shown that over four million Germans would like to give golf a try. Current offers only have limited appeal for these people, as they are too complicated, too expensive or not flexible enough. The aim behind these three companies working together is to reach people who want to learn golf, but are also heavily involved in other kinds of sport and have to be flexible for work or family reasons. Belonging to a golf club in the traditional sense, and incurring the high fixed costs which this entails, is out of the question for this target group. Through "Jetzt-golfen.de", Karstadt sports and Clubhaus AG can thus respond to the trend towards increased individualization in the sport, while offering beginners and advanced golfers a new approach to the sport.
Alexander Freiherr von Spoercken, Chairman of the Board of Directors at Clubhaus AG says, "Even the golf industry needs to adjust to the new way in which people spend their leisure time. With the long-term ,Jetzt golfen' initiative, Karstadt sports and Clubhaus AG are helping to break down the hurdles encountered by newcomers, while making the sport more appealing to new target groups."
The "Jetzt-golfen.de" comprehensive service package incorporates the following offers, available individually or as part of the package:
Taster and minimum handicap courses: for anyone interested in swinging a club, taster courses for less than €30 and minimum handicap courses for less than €300 are now available across Germany at 19 golf courses. The golf courses are located near large cities and can be reached in less than 45 minutes from congested areas. In the next two to three years, the number of golf courses will grow to around 50.
Golf Online proficiency certificate: with the Golf Online PE internet program, anyone interested can take their theoretical handicap test on their computer at home for €30.
Karstadt sports GolfCard and guest membership: the monthly fee of just €20 for the Karstadt sports GolfCard offers membership at a German golf club, including an official German Golf Association ID and handicap management, as well as a 10% discount when you buy golfing equipment at Karstadt sports, or invitations to certain tournaments. In addition, holders of the Karstadt sports GolfCard can play green fee golf at virtually any of the 700 golf clubs in Germany.
For anyone interested, all the offers and further details about the "Jetzt golfen" offer package can now be found online at www.jetzt-golfen.de and in all branches of Karstadt sports.
