Essen, Germany, April 2, 2008.  The Karstadt RestaurantCafes are top of the class. So says a study performed by the Deutsches Institut für Service-Qualität between January 28 and February 24, 2008 in 100 branches of the ten largest convenience restaurant chains. The study focused on six areas design, cleanliness and upkeep of the facilities, the food on offer, employee expertise and friendliness and the speed with which the customer is served. The presence of additional services was also taken into consideration. The Karstadt RestaurantCafés scored high points, mainly for having the most attractive and pleasant surroundings as well as the best product range. Karstadt achieved the highest points in these two areas. In particular, the test customers praised the diversity, quality and freshness of the food on offer. All in all, Karstadt came second in the overall evaluation of all six areas mentioned above.

"We are very pleased with the positive evaluation of the test customers. This is proof that our restaurants work effectively. The study also showed where we can improve further in the eyes of our customers. We will systematically act on these suggestions", says Karstadt CEO Peter Wolf.

The test customers each visited ten branches of the companies in at least five different cities. Companies with self-service or over-the-counter service which operate a restaurant chain and have at least 40 branches were included in the evaluation. Karstadt operates a total of 74 restaurant cafés. The study is available online at www.disq.de.
