Whether on devices by Océ, Xerox or others: Numerous tests have shown that recycled paper can be used in printers and photocopiers without any problems or limitations. For many years, Karstadt Warenhaus GmbH has used - with the exception of very few special applications - only recycled paper, a technically perfected and high-quality paper.
This also has clear ecological advantages, which is shown by the ecological report of the German Federal Environment Agency: The use of recycled paper instead of fresh fibre paper saves forests and energy and protects our climate and rivers.
The negative qualities ascribed to recycled paper are a thing of the past; what remains are its advantages. Demand from private customers is very low, and so is the supply. After Karstadt teamed up with other renowned companies in order to prompt other companies to use recycled paper, the introduction of "PaperMade" into its range of goods offered is aimed at convincing the private consumers of the quality of recycled printing paper. The paper is offered in all stationery departments.
PaperMade
PaperMade is suited for laser and ink jet printers, photocopiers and fax machines. It has been tested for optimal feed characteristics according to DIN 19309; it is highly age resistant according to DIN 6738 - LDK 24-85 and document-quality. PaperMade is made of 100 per cent waste paper according to the strict ecological criteria of the Blue Angel ('Blauer Engel'), which include minimal use of water as well as energy and no use of optical brighteners. Moreover, it has been awarded the "Nordic Swan". The production is subject to a certified environmental management system according to DIN EN ISO 14001.
Effective savings with recycled paper:
You could make a pot of coffee with 3 sheets.
250 sheets will allow your 11-watt energy saving bulb to shine for more than 50 hours.
500 sheets will wash your laundry.
You could drive 50 kilometres with 1.000 sheets.
Karstadt is a founding member of the "Initiative Pro Recyclingpapier" ("Initiative for the use of recycled paper").
