Two factors determine the range of textiles available at Karstadt; on the one hand, the current fashion trends, on the other hand the responsibility to offer our customers clothing which is free from harmful substances.

We extensively test supplies to make sure that they follow the laws requiring textiles to be free from harmful substances.

In this process we pay particular attention to clothes for babies and children as well as textiles with skin contact and bedding.

The ecological textile standard "Öko-Text Standard 100" has been and still is of central importance in this process. Its criteria catalogue is constantly updated and extended according to the latest scientific findings. These criteria are part of the buying conditions and they can be viewed at: www.oekotex.com.

In order to enable the customer to recognise these efforts, it is our top priority to make them visible on the product. This is the purpose of the label "Textiles Vertrauen - schadstoffgeprüfte Textilien" ("Trustworthy textiles - tested for harmful substances").

In brief

The requirements of Öko-Tex Standard 100 form an integral part of our purchasing conditions.
