In 1994, the Board of Directors of Karstadt Warenhaus AG passed guidelines for environmental protection. These are to contribute in all areas of the company to give the environment the significance which is necessary for its protection.
The guidelines for environmental protection have been part of our company policy ever since:

1. Environment-oriented company management makes a contribution to securing the future of the environment and the company. Environmental protection is therefore part of our company policy.

2. We take ecological requirements into consideration in our decisions - within the framework of financial and technical possibilities.

3. In close co-operation with our suppliers we extend the range of environmentally compatible products offered and support sensible reductions in packaging.

4. We support the use and sale of re-usable materials in order to reduce waste.

5. We carry out measures to promote environmental conscious behaviour in our staff.

6. We support institutions and organisations in the development and the implementation of economic solutions in environmental protection. 

7. We inform the consumers and the interested public about measures to protect the environment.
