Essen, 17 January 2011. Two new members have joined the Supervisory Board of KARSTADT Warenhaus GmbH at its meeting today. Christian Gries, CEO of Gries Deco Company GmbH and Doris Schröder-Köpf, a journalist, now represent the employers on the Board. At the same time Dr Martin Müller and Friedrich-Wilhelm Schlich stepped down.

Essen, May 18 2011 - Karstadt has set the course for a sharper focus of its activities. Today the Supervisory Board of Karstadt Warenhaus GmbH approved by the majority the strategy of a further specialization of the Group's divisions.

Key element of this strategy is the formation of three legally independent entities for the Department Store, the Sports and the Premium activities. On a mid- to long-term basis, the specialization shall contribute to improving the performance and the market position of the three divisions.

Essen, May 18 2011 - The Supervisory Board of Karstadt Warenhaus GmbH has appointed Harald Fraszczak as new Chief Financial Officer.

He succeeds the restructuring expert Josef Schultheis, who has supported Karstadt since June 2009, has been interim Chief Financial Officer of Karstadt since October 2010 and is stepping down from office as planned today. Mr. Schultheis will continue to advise the company during a transition phase.
